National Center for Arts & Technology at a glance: July 2014
Overview National Center for Arts and Technology (NCAT) supports the national replication of
the model for learning and community development created by the Manchester Bidwell
Corporation. NCAT is a replication strategy that facilitates the development of a significant number of arts and technology centers in communities across the United States. NCAT provides the opportunity to broaden Bill Strickland’s vision of creating healthy communities through culture and enterprise.
NCAT was incorporated in 2007 and is a subsidiary of Manchester Bidwell Corporation.
Mission To impart the Manchester Bidwell Corporation educational model by catalyzing the creation of centers for Arts and Technology.
NCAT’s eight operational affiliates demonstrate the impact the model is already making in communities outside of Pittsburgh. Thousands of individuals have benefited from programming offered at these CATs. Each Center is modeled after the successful programs of MCG and BTC and adapted to fit the needs of each community. Manchester Bidwell to expand to Israel; sights set on Japan

Two years after he hatched the idea of expanding his novel arts education and job training center to overseas locations, Bill Strickland intends to make good on the vow this fall in Israel.
Then, he said, he hopes to open clones of Manchester Bidwell Corp. in an impoverished area of East London and in Japan, to help tsunami victims.

When the Brockway Center for Arts and Technology opened in May and when classes began in June, graduation day was a footnote on the calendar.
That footnote became an exclamation point Wednesday when 22 students received diplomas as medical assistants and pharmacy technicians and were told what they helped to achieve is having state, national and international impacts.

Growing up in a struggling North Side neighborhood, Bill Strickland’s early encounter with a teacher who introduced him to pottery, jazz and architecture became the inspiration for a nonprofit that uses the arts as a way to inspire young people and down-on-their-luck adults to grow their educational prospects, get training and develop productive lives. Along with a thriving jazz label and concert series,Manchester Bidwell Corp. now offers arts education for public high school students as well as vocational training for a broadening range of subjects, including culinary, horticulture and various medical fields. Strickland’s model has been independently adopted in eight cities, and he hopes to grow it worldwide.

President Obama Selects Manchester Bidwell Corporation CEO Bill Strickland for the Newly Formed White House Council for Community Solutions
Strickland joins corporate, non-profit and foundation leaders from across the U.S. in offering solutions for more efficiently and effectively addressing community needs to President Obama.
President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order establishing the White House Council for Community Solutions. The Council will provide advice to the President on the best ways to mobilize citizens, nonprofits, businesses and government to work more effectively together to solve specific community needs. Pittsburgh’s Bill Strickland, President and CEO of Manchester Bidwell Corporation (MBC), is one of the twenty-five appointees who range from Jon Bon Jovi to the president of eBay.
President Obama said, “These impressive men and women have dedicated their lives and careers to civic engagement and social innovation.
